The first week of the Food Product Development process consisted of ample brainstorming, analyzing, and deciding. The group had to formulate ideas for styles of cuisine, ingredients to formulate these ideas, and forms of packaging for the product.
The group began by brainstorming ideas for the product which would soon be created. The group members began shouting out possibilities. With an array of ideas which originate from all around the world. Some suggested Asian food, some were partial to American, while others suggested Italian, Mexican, etc. Although there were many ideas and possible foods to be cook, it was necessary to narrow down to the few that would be appealing to customers, would be affordable, and could be packaged easily.
Three products were decided after the narrowing process. The first would be an all-American favorite, boneless chicken wings. This product was decided due to the constant desire of wings, as well as the affordable price, and broad spectrum for the product. It would consist of an American bread crumb, with a buffalo Kerry seasoning.
The next product decided was a cuisine resembling oriental traits, an Asian chicken Thai dish. Asian food is one of the most desirable products on the market. It is incorporated into all cultures, so forming a product which is so highly appreciated was important. This dish will consist of flavored chicken, and rice noodles to compliment it. The dish will be created using peanut oil, ginger, red chili flakes, lime, and more.
The last product brainstormed by the group was a Mexican product. The idea was to create a delicious blend of ground chicken to supply consumers with ingredients for chicken tacos. This product will be made using sazon seasoning, cumin, garlic, and taco seasoning with a compliment of a taco shell, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, etc. This is the groups idea of a “build your own” product which is highly desirable to consumers. Ready-made meals that must be assembled for the final step seem to be satisfying to people, so the idea of this product is to provide a convenient meal which achieves the feeling of being homemade.
Decisions have been made, now begins the process of trial and error to decide on a final product to offer to consumers.
